What's Left To Do
So far, we have produced this film at the grassroots level without large dollar contributions. It has taken longer but the film crew is dedicated to its completion and multiple people are donating what they can -- their time, their expertise, their funds. To date, we have thirty four awesome formal interviews and fourteen "Man On The Street" interviews.
1. We are currently securing archival film and photo memorabilia, an estimated $12,500 endeavor (some of which will be in-kind donations).
2. We have enough interviews to make an excellent film but filming eight more key figures will round out the film beautifully. These interviews include: national NAACP member Julian Bond (contacted), retired NBC news correspondent Steve Delaney (contacted), OKC NAACP youth president during sit-ins Barbara Posey Jones (contacted), OKC NAACP youth leader Clara Luper (contacted), legal advisors E. Melvin Porter and/or John Green (to be contacted) Portwood Williams, Sr. (to be contacted), Kanye West (to be contacted), authors of "The Race Beat" Gene Roberts and/or Hank Klibanoff (to be contacted). This endeavor has an estimated cost of $20,000 (some of which will be in-kind donation).
3. Music selection and rights to use music is an estimated cost of $10,000.
4. Marketing the film at film festivals and to distribution companies will be the final step.
With each step, we get closer to the completion of this film, a story well worth all the sweat, tears and joys experienced during the process.
